Welcome to Bere Regis Swimming Club

girl learning to swim

The Bere Regis Swimming Club (now known as the "Orcas"), was formed in 1976 with the sole purpose of teaching swimming to children in Bere Regis and the surrounding rural district. To this day, its aims and objectives remain the same, with the club providing a broad spectrum of opportunities.

However, the club’s main objective is to improve the standard of swimming in the area and to take children from complete beginners to competitive standard in a happy and friendly environment. To this end we use the Swimming Teachers Association Awards scheme. In this structured programme, we are also able to teach elementary diving, sychronised swimming and personal survival to our older children.

We currently have around 100 members and 12 swimming teachers. Our members ages range from 3 up to 16, and abilities from complete beginner to competitive standard. All our teachers are qualified with either the Amateur Swimming Association or the Swimming Teachers Association. We now have eight young volunteers assisting our teachers who have come from the ranks of our swimmers.
